Google Builds Intense Underwater Network Connection

fiber opticGoogle has joined with Faster, development consortium submarine cable that will connect Japan and the United States with connections up to 60 Tbps.

This consortium consists of China Mobile International, China Telecom Global, Global Transit, KDDI, and SingTel. For this project vendors use the services of NEC.

Google’s VP of Technical Infrastructure Urs H√∂lzle said Google’s participation in this project to ensure the existence of a fast internet connection since many users and developers of Android applications utilize Google Cloud platform in the region.

Earlier, in 2008 has also been investing in the Trans Pacific submarine cable network that also connects Japan and the United States.

Through its subsidiary – Google SJC Bermuda Ltd. – Google also joined in the investment of USD 400 million to build a submarine cable linking Southeast Asia with Japan. This infrastructure has been operating in June that brings the speed of 28 Tbps.

In the United States alone, Google brings it closer to the access infrastructure hub in the West Coast area including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle. This is all so the connection to the data center of the Japanese-owned company to be faster.
