Domain Names on the Internet Translucent 284 Million

VeriSign announced an additional four million new domain names that are present on the internet in the last three months. So the number of domain names registered worldwide on all top level domain (TLD) has broken 284 million.

From the description of the internet agencies, as quoted on Sunday (01/03/2015), an increase of four million domain names globally indicates a growth rate of 1.6% during the second quarter of 2014.

That means an increase in enrollment in the whole world by 18.1 million, or 6.8%, when compared to the previous year in year-on-year.

.com And .net TLDs experienced aggregate growth in the third quarter of 2014, amounted to a combined figure of 130 million domain names in the adjusted zone for .com and .net.

This represents an increase in growth of 3.3% per year. On September 30, 2014, a domain name registered in .com reached 114.9 million domain names, while .net reached 15.1 million names.

.com And .net domain registrations reached 8.7 million during the third quarter of 2014. In the third quarter of 2013, the .com and .net registrations totaled 8.3 million new.

During the third quarter of 2014, the query load of the Domain Name System (DNS) average daily Verisign is 114 billion across TLD operated by Verisign, the peak reached 318 billion, the highest average and peak load of queries in a single quarter.

When compared with the previous quarter, the average daily increase of 20.1% and 55.6% peak increase. When compared with the previous year, the query load average daily increase of 40% and peak query load increased 202.1%.
